The TOA TS-924 is the long gooseneck microphone for the infrared conference system's chairman and delegate units. TOA describes it as “a dedicated component” whose “mic head is equipped with an illuminated display ring that allows the status of the units in use to be monitored at a glance”. The gooseneck has two flexible sections, so it can be set to the talker rather than to the table.
The conference units are supplied without a microphone, so one of these is required per seat. The choice between the two is table depth: this one is 620 mm (2.03 ft), the alternative is the TS-923 standard type at 470 mm. For a wide council desk the long type saves the talker leaning forward; on a shallow table it is in the way of the papers.
It is a unidirectional electret condenser capsule, 1.4 kΩ, −37 dB sensitivity, 100 Hz to 13 kHz, on an XLR-4-32 connector. It fits the TS-821, TS-921, TS-811 and TS-911 chairman units and the TS-822, TS-922, TS-812 and TS-912 delegate units. The digital TS-D1000 units take a different microphone on a three-pin connector and these will not fit them.
