The TOA TS-770 CU is the central unit of the TS-770 conference system. TOA describes it as a central unit “of which compact design makes it easy to install and store”. It connects the chairman, delegate and remote delegate interface units, supplies their power and carries the audio between them.
Capacity is 70 units on one central unit, split across two lines at a maximum of 35 units per line. Three central units can be linked through the expansion terminals to reach 210 units, which is what makes this a system for a council chamber rather than a boardroom. An All-Mic-On function turns every microphone on at once for sound collecting and recording, and automatic microphone shutoff can be set to OFF, 20 seconds or 40 seconds so an open microphone left unattended does not stay open.
The number of delegate units allowed to speak at the same time is set to 1, 3 or 6, and the chairman unit's priority function overrides them. A test function verifies the connection status of every unit before a session starts. Microphone and AUX inputs, recording outputs and equalizer insert points are all on the rear panel. The units it drives are the TS-771 chairman unit, the TS-772 delegate unit and the TS-775 remote delegate interface unit.
