The TOA SR-T5 is the largest speaker in this group and the only one with a passive crossover built in: eight 13 cm woofers and twenty-four balanced dome tweeters in a black plywood cabinet, 750 W continuous program at 8 Ω. A line array works by stacking drivers vertically in close proximity so they behave as one tall sound source rather than several separate ones. The result is tight vertical control: sound goes to the audience and not at the ceiling or the floor, which is what keeps speech intelligible in a room with hard surfaces and a long reverberation time.
Two things set it apart from the Type H and Type S modules. It needs no external processor — an internal two-way passive crossover means it runs from a single amplifier channel with no DP-SP3 in the signal path. And its vertical dispersion is 35°, much wider than the 0° to 20° of the slim modules, with 100° horizontally: this is a speaker for covering a broad area from one point rather than throwing a narrow beam down a long room.
Mounting brackets are supplied with the speaker. The optional SR-PB5 wall pan bracket adds horizontal aiming of 5° or 10° left or right. At 29 kg in an impact-resistant plywood and polypropylene cabinet, it is built for places where a speaker is likely to take a knock.
