Klipsch RP-8060FA II Walnut, Each

Product Details

The Klipsch RP-8060FA II is the flagship floorstander of the Reference Premiere II line: a full-size three-way tower with dual 8" Cerametallic woofers and a built-in, up-firing Dolby Atmos elevation channel in the top of the cabinet. At 98dB sensitivity it is an unusually easy speaker to drive, and it reaches down to 35Hz without a subwoofer.

A 90° x 90° silicon composite hybrid Tractrix horn sits at the center of the design. Horn loading raises efficiency and focuses high frequencies toward the listening position, while the phase plug and compression-molded silicon face keep the response smooth. The second-generation horn is larger than the original Reference Premiere, widening the soundstage and improving directivity.

Cerametallic cone woofers are exceptionally rigid and light for their mass, which keeps cone break-up out of the passband. Faraday rings and aluminum shorting rings in the redesigned motor reduce distortion and increase power handling, with better transient control than the first-generation Reference Premiere.

The integrated Atmos module is a discrete sealed enclosure with its own 1" LTS tweeter and 6.5" Cerametallic woofer, firing at the ceiling to place height effects overhead without separate speakers or ceiling installation. Dual aluminum binding posts allow bi-wiring or bi-amping. Bi-wiring separates high- and low-frequency current into separate cables to reduce intermodulation distortion in the midrange; bi-amping allows outboard crossovers and separate amplification.

Cabinets are internally braced MDF in scratch-resistant ebony vinyl with satin-painted baffles. The grille is magnetically attached and fully removable, so the speaker moves between showpiece and discreet without hardware on the baffle.
