Product Details
The Klipsch RP-502S II is a dedicated surround speaker with dual 5.25" Cerametallic woofers in a sealed, wall-mountable cabinet, sold as a pair. The angled baffle is designed for side or rear wall placement, spreading surround information across the listening area rather than firing at one seat.
A 90° x 90° silicon composite hybrid Tractrix horn sits at the center of the design. Horn loading raises efficiency and focuses high frequencies toward the listening position, while the phase plug and compression-molded silicon face keep the response smooth. The second-generation horn is larger than the original Reference Premiere, widening the soundstage and improving directivity.
Cerametallic cone woofers are exceptionally rigid and light for their mass, which keeps cone break-up out of the passband. Faraday rings and aluminum shorting rings in the redesigned motor reduce distortion and increase power handling, with better transient control than the first-generation Reference Premiere.
The sealed enclosure keeps the surround channel tight and controlled, which matters more than extension in a surround position. Cabinets are internally braced MDF in scratch-resistant ebony vinyl with satin-painted baffles. The grille is magnetically attached and fully removable, so the speaker moves between showpiece and discreet without hardware on the baffle.
