The Klipsch ME-800-C is a metal back-box enclosure for Reference series in-ceiling speakers with 8" woofers. It does two jobs an open ceiling cavity cannot: it satisfies fire-rating and plenum building codes, and it stops sound passing from one room into the next.
Manufactured from high-grade cold-rolled steel with a layer of insulation, it exceeds one-hour fire-rating requirements and meets UL2043 for installation in plenum spaces. It has also been tested to UL 263, ASTM E119-98, NFPA 251, UBC 7-1 and ULC CAN/ULC-S101-M89.
The insulation reduces sound transmission into adjacent spaces by at least 10dB — the practical reason to specify one in a bedroom ceiling or a shared wall. The fixed internal volume also gives the speaker consistent acoustic performance regardless of how the ceiling above was built.
Fits 16" or 24" stud spans, with pre-drilled holes, provisions for standard conduit connections and all mounting hardware included, tile systems covered.
