The Klipsch KI-272-SMA-II is a 12" two-way commercial loudspeaker in a horizontal cabinet, built for permanent install in venues where a wide, shallow enclosure fits the architecture better than a tall one — above a stage proscenium, under a balcony front, or across a low soffit.
A K-281-EP 12" woofer and K-70-G 1.75" titanium compression driver on a K-604 horn give 100dB sensitivity and 127dB peak SPL. The 40° x 60° pattern is deliberately narrow horizontally: in the horizontal cabinet orientation this throws long and narrow, which is what you want covering a deep room from the front rather than spraying the side walls.
A KLIP overload protection circuit guards the high-frequency driver — what keeps a permanently installed system alive when someone unfamiliar with it drives the amplifier hard. Twelve 3/8"-16 fly points plus two 5/16"-18 threaded holes top and bottom allow suspension or C-bracket mounting.
The enclosure is CNC-fabricated 3/4" seven-ply birch plywood assembled with rabbet and dado joinery, with a 1" MDF motorboard. Black and white cabinets use a lacquer-based finish. Raw Birch is supplied unfinished, for installations where the cabinet will be painted or stained to match the room. Signal connection is via a two-point barrier strip, the standard for permanent commercial install.
