The Klipsch KI-172-SMA-II is a compact two-way commercial install loudspeaker with an 8" woofer, in a horizontal cabinet. It is built for restaurants, retail, hospitality and other spaces that need even, intelligible coverage from discreet boxes rather than concert output. This is the standard 8 ohm version, for conventional low-impedance amplification.
Coverage is Horizontal 90° +/- 30° 2.5kHz – 20kHz, with a 2kHz crossover to the compression driver. Sensitivity is 95dB and maximum continuous output 115dB — comfortably more than a distributed background or foreground music system asks for, which means the speakers run well within themselves.
The cabinet is 3/4" MDF. Signal connection is via a two-point barrier strip, the standard for permanent commercial install, and a KLIP overload protection circuit guards the high-frequency driver — what keeps an installed system alive when someone unfamiliar with it drives the amplifier hard. Finish is white; the raw MDF option is supplied unfinished for painting to match the room.
The SB-102 mounting bracket is the matching accessory.
