The Klipsch KI-115-SMA-II is a single 15" commercial subwoofer in a compact rectangular cabinet, designed to add low-frequency extension to Klipsch professional install systems. At 18.5" high and 62 lbs it is considerably easier to place and fly than the dual-15" KI-215.
A 15" woofer with a 3" voice coil and 104-ounce motor magnet assembly in a vented enclosure gives 101dB sensitivity and 130dB peak SPL, reaching 49Hz. The cabinet carries a metal perforated grille rather than cloth, for structural integrity and to protect the transducer from impact and tampering — the practical requirement in a public venue.
Four 3/8"-16 fly points allow suspension. The enclosure is CNC-fabricated 3/4" seven-ply birch plywood assembled with rabbet and dado joinery, with a 1" MDF motorboard. Black and white cabinets use a lacquer-based finish. Raw Birch is supplied unfinished, for installations where the cabinet will be painted or stained to match the room. Signal connection is via a two-point barrier strip, the standard for permanent commercial install.
