The Klipsch IK-502-C install kit adds mounting flexibility to THX® Ultra2 in-ceiling speakers. It is a pre-construction bracket: it goes in before the drywall so the speaker cut-out lands exactly where it was designed to, rather than wherever the finished ceiling happens to allow.

The kit combines a mud ring with a breakaway wire tie and color-coded brackets that identify the speaker size at a glance on a job site running several sizes at once. One flat side with a raised wall lets it mount directly against a joist, which is how you line a run of speakers up with lights, vents and each other.

Perforated metal wings fasten to the studs with screws, staples or nails and are ribbed for rigidity, letting a single kit span up to 24 inches. They are painted white for easy marking and will fold around the edge of a stud where the framing does not cooperate.

Note that this kit is not plenum rated. Where the ceiling cavity is used as a return-air plenum, a plenum-rated enclosure such as the ME series is required instead.
