MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD) Jeweller is the version built to be mounted out of reach — 6.6 to 13.1 ft up, on a wall, a soffit or a pole, where a detector at head height would be vandalised, obstructed or simply walked past.
Mounting high changes the detection problem, so the sensor set changes with it: two PIR sensors are joined by a 24 GHz K-band microwave sensor, and both must agree before an alarm is raised. The camera is larger too — 640 × 480 px at 115° horizontal and 84° vertical, looking down over the area rather than across it. Six CR123A cells carry the extra load for about three years.
One thing to plan for: this model has no pet immunity. Mounted at its intended height the sensors look down over an area rather than across a walkway, which is a different trade-off from the ground-level detectors. Where animals share the protected space, check the coverage plan before specifying it. Photos travel on Wings, a second radio channel dedicated to image transfer, so pictures never delay an alarm and an alarm never delays a picture.
