CenterButton (1-gang) [120] is the touch panel for the middle positions of a multi-gang Ajax LightSwitch — the seats with a neighbor on both sides. Ajax's own wording is that it is used when the switch is installed between the device set.

That is the whole difference from the other two panels, and it is a physical one: at 1.79 inches wide it is the narrowest of the three, because it needs no finished edge on either side. SoloButton is the widest, for a switch standing alone; SideButton sits at the left or right end of a bank and carries one finished edge. Fit the wrong one and the plate will not close up correctly. Ajax LightSwitch is a modular system rather than a single product: a complete switch is a LightCore relay behind the wall plus a touch-sensitive button panel on the face, held in a frame when two or more sit together. All three are sold separately.

Everything else matches the rest of the range: the whole face is the sensor, it responds to a hand approaching within about half an inch, a soft backlight locates it in the dark, and the panel houses the switch's radio antennas.

Ordering a bank of switches: an N-seat run takes one Frame (N seats), N LightCore relays, two SideButtons for the two ends, and N−2 CenterButtons for the middle. A 2-seat frame therefore takes two SideButtons and no CenterButton; a 5-seat frame takes two SideButtons and three CenterButtons. Supplied in the grey finish; the same panel is stocked in the other seven finishes as 101870.140.WH3 (white), 101871.140.BL3 (black), 101872.140.GP3 (graphite), 101874.140.IV3 (ivory), 101875.140.FG3 (fog), 101876.140.OY3 (oyster), 101877.140.OL3 (olive).
